Beatles Tour of Liverpool
If you are a fan of the Beatles then the city of Liverpool should be high on your list as a place to visit at least once in your life. As a fan, I visited the city last year and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. It was more enjoyable than I expected and maybe it's just me but I really felt parts of the city had a real magic quite unlike anywhere else I have been. 'The Beatles Story' Museum The Beatles Museum located at the Albert Dock is really quite good. For Beatles fans it is a must and although you may have to queue for a while, it is worth the wait and the entrance fee.
The exhibition is very well done and you can genuinely spend a good number of hours here taking in all the exhibits. Even with two young children, we found there was enough to keep them amused for a good while. The exhibition finished with video show cases of the Beatles solo careers and also features John Lennon's famous 'granny glasses' and the white piano from the Imagine video. Once you have finished touring the exhibition, there is a pleasant cafe where you can get a decent cup of coffee and enjoy looking at the photographs of John, Paul, George and Ringo in their formative years. Back upstairs at ground level, there is a great Beatles shop which sells all manner of Beatles trinkets as well as all the CDs currently available. You will no doubt find something that takes your fancy my own personal choices were a yellow submarine pin badge and an Abbey Road t-shirt for my son. After you have finished with the exhibition, the Albert Dock itself is a very pleasant place to stroll around and the 'Magical Mystery Tour' bus tour also departed from beside the dock should you wish to take the tour.
