Barbados Holidays 2012
Upon visiting the island of Barbados you will soon learn that life is not just about work, but you also must have fun. No matter where you go on the island, the natives of Barbados are always friendly and they are always willing to tell you a story or two. Just because the sun goes down the day isn’t over yet. The nightlife in Barbados is even more unique and exciting than the daytime activities. Whether you are looking for a dinner show that provides you with an insight into the culture of the island, a romantic cruise or even a place to dance the night away it can be found on the island. The Capital As the capital of Barbados Bridgetown provides plenty of things for visitors to see and do. Shopping along Broad Street is a great way to visit the numerous department stores and duty free shops on the island. If you are looking for the smaller shops or wayside vendors, you are better off heading down Swan, Tudor, or Roebuck Street. Bridgetown also has plenty of historic buildings that you can tour to learn more about the history of the island. While Bridgetown offers plenty of fun things to do, you don’t want to forget about the rest of the islands. Barbados has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world so make sure you visit at least one during your stay. You can even take part in an undersea adventure with Atlantis Submarines. The best way to see everything that the island has to offer is to book an island tour with Adventureland 4x4 Safari Tours. Food and Culture The culture of Barbados is a unique blend of British and West African cultures. These two cultures have blended to create the carefree people that live on the island of Barbados. During your stay in Barbados, you will notice that most of the people here have a unique outlook on life, you will see this in the way that they talk and the endless energy that they have. People all over Barbados, no matter what there age, are all like children, no matter what is going on they still insist on having fun. English is the official language in Barbados, but the Bajan is a big part of the Barbados culture. The culture of Barbados is also expressed through the food. The local cuisine is a mixture between spicy dishes made with fish, pork, and chicken, with the traditional English dishes like fish and chips. The best way to experience the local food is to eat at the roadside stands located throughout the island. Some of the must tries include pepperpot, which is a pork stew served in a spicy sauce. Conch fritters, grilled pig tail, and crumbed and fried flying fish are also highly recommended. Wildlife Although Barbados is only 21 miles long and 14 miles wide, there is plenty of unique wildlife to be found on the island. The Green Monkey, named so because of its olive green fur, is one of the most famous animals on the island and because it is also heavily populated, seeing one in its natural habitat is high, as long as you go looking first thing in the morning. If reptiles are more to your liking Barbados is the best place to see sea turtles, especially Leatherback and Hawksbill Sea Turtles. You can even swim with some of the sea turtles in certain parts of Barbados. Climate If you are looking for a place that is sunny and warm all year long Barbados is an amazing choice. All year long you can expect to see temperatures that range from 75 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. These temperatures are perfect for the variety of outdoor activities you can participate in while visiting Barbados. The northeast tradewinds prevent it the bright and sunny weather from getting too hot. Rain showers do occur, but they are often quick showers. The months of July to December have the highest chance of these quick rain showers.
