Cuba – A musical paradise

Cuba, while a socialist nation, is one of the most beautiful vacation spots in the Caribbean Sea. One of the most appealing countries from a visual perspective, Cuba is home to a beautiful mixture of pre-Columbian cultures and Spanish colonialism that has become a centre for art. The beautiful buildings are framed by the luscious landscape and great natural beauty. Nestled between the mountain ranges are fertile plains that hold tobacco and sugar cane crops; not to forget, Cuba is also home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

Music is a fundamental part of life in Cuba. The modern rumba comes from Cuba, as well as the cha-cha-cha, salsa, and mamba. The wonderful sounds of Cuban Jazz can be heard on almost any street in Havana. It would be a strange moment to encounter a part of the city where lively music isn’t filtering out onto the streets.

Havana is the largest city in Cuba, holding over one fourth of the population of the island and is the cultural centre of the island. Old Havana is one of the most historical sites in all of Cuba. The square mile contains handsome plazas, cobble stone alleys, and several colonial palaces.

Hitchhiking is controlled by the Government, but not in the way you would think. Placed throughout the city are hitchhiking posts, where a pleasant government official will register traveler’s destinations and load them onto state and private cars that are headed in the direction of their destination. Don’t worry though; tourists are not required to pick up hitchhikers.

The climate of Cuba remains an average 70F and is kept feeling like a paradise by the pleasant trade winds that blanket the island. Considering a semitropical or temperate environment, the climate stays just warm enough to support the constant music and dance that permeate the cities and resorts.

Food and Drink within Cuba are a fusion of American, Spanish, and Caribbean cuisine. Most of the cooking spices and techniques have been handed down from African and Spanish cooking. Most meals usually consist of different types of stews or soups, usually eaten with a side of rice.

Cuba is one of the most beautiful location spots. You will find happy people that are welcoming with their song and music. You will find delicious cuisine and breath-taking art that you will always remember. Taking the time to visit Havana or the sugar cane and tobacco fields is the perfect compliments to any beach filled vacation.
