The Many Faces of Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a beautiful city that has been influenced by both Chinese and British cultures. The different societies have come together to form an amazing city full of excitement and wonder. A visit to Hong Kong will give you a sense of wonder from the many festivals and fantastic food that you will remember long after you return home.

Hong Kong, due to its special nature, has separate immigration laws from mainland China and travelers will not require visas in advance to visit, but you will be unable to enter mainland China without a visa . Shopping is one of the biggest attractions of Hong Kong and the boutiques and shops will have some of the most trendy clothes. The availability of custom jewelry is also quite amazing. You can find almost anything you’d like to buy in one of the malls in Hong Kong and they are open from around 10AM until midnight and later still if there are still customers around to sell too.

Hong Kong’s rich cultural history has lead to dozens of museums opening in the country. It is impossible to try and visit them in just one short stay. No matter what your particular favorite type of museum is, Hong Kong has one tailored for your likes. Contrary to popular belief, Hong Kong has wonderful wildlife and is not made completely skyscrapers and modern conveniences. It is possible to visit one of the many parks within the city or travel to the outskirts and see the beautiful countryside. You can even find your favorite Disney theme park there as well and see Mickey in a whole new light.

Hong Kong is a great venue for shopping, food, and to sample Chinese culture in a different setting. A very modern city, getting around is easy due to the well developed mass transit system. Just remember that tipping is not a custom and can even be seen as patronising and offensive in some restaurants. You shouldn’t worry though, because the bill will have service fees tacked on to take care of the waiters.

Taking in Hong Kong should always be done with an extra empty suitcase for all the things you will want to buy and bring home with you, whether it is a new wardrobe or a new jewelry box full of treasures.
