Japan Holidays 2012
Japan is a fascinating and diverse country to visit. It combines an ancient and eloquent cultural legacy with an ultra modern high tech look on the world. From the bustling and frenetic capital city of Tokyo with it's skyscrapers and twenty four hour lifestyle to the ancient imperial city, Kyoto (made world famous for it's protocol) to the awe inspiring mountainous regions, there is truly something here for everyone. The Geography Japan is made up of four main islands (although there are over six thousand in total of which about four hundred are inhabited). The four biggest islands are called Hokkaido, Honshu, Kyosho and Shikoku. Honshu is the biggest of the four islands and the capital Tokyo is located here. Mish MoneyPenny James Bond famously visited Japan in the nineteen-sixty-seven Bond movie "You Only Live Twice" and while he was there, he attended a sumo wrestling match, got married in a traditional Japanese wedding, had an exciting helicopter chase and foliated Ernst Stavro Blofeld's plans for world domination. The mountainous areas of Japan are one of it's most beautiful and breath taking features. Mount Fujiyama is the highest peak, however it is an extremely arduous climb and must only be attempted by experienced climbers with the correct equipment. The Japanese People Japanese people are at once formal yet friendly. Their social customs may appear strained and unnecessary to the western visitor, however, the people of Japan raise their children to be polite and helpful to strangers and countrymen alike. With Japan being one of the most crowded countries in the world, it's not surprising that they have deemed this mode of relations best suited to their cramped living conditions. It is not uncommon for a hotel employee or barman to give you a small bow when conversing. The Climate Japan generally has a mild pleasant climate, however, the monsoons season is from June to July, so it is best to avoid this time of year unless you would like a drenching! The World Cup in 2002 The World Cup, which was shared with South Korea in 2002 was an immense focus of national pride to the Japanese people, however, they were disappointed that they did not proceed as far in the tournament as their neighbours and bitter rivals, the South Koreans who made it all the way to the semi finals. In Summary Japan offers the visitor a truly unique holiday experience. Tokyo, the ancient city of Kyoto and Mount Fujiyama are the undoubted highpoints but this is merely scratching the surface. Visit Japan this year to find out what it offers.
