Mexico Holidays 2011
Mexico’s Lively Culture One of the largest tourist spots in the world, Mexico is filled with famous cities and nightlife like no other. The people of this Central American country are warm and friendly and enjoy life at a much slower pace than many parts of the world. This will ensure that your Mexico holiday is one to remember. The ancient history and archaeological sites make for wonderful adventures during the day. The cuisine varies depending on where you are in the country and travel allows you to experience much more of the Mexican culture. Hotspots Famous for tourist hotspots like Acapulco, Cozumel, Los Cabos, Cancun, and Patzcuaro, Mexico has a lot to offer the casual tourist and the elite traveler. Traditions and customs are high on the list for the Mexican people and taking time to learn simple things to show respect will make your trip all that more enjoyable. Travelling During Your Mexican Holiday Traveling by car can be a great experience, but it is important to take a few safety precautions. The majority of highways through the country are toll roads, but worth the price as they are much safer and faster. The government also has a program called, “Traza Tu Ruta”, which is the Mexican equivalent of MapQuest and is a great way to figure out how to get from place to place. Weapons checkpoints are fairly common place on Mexican roads, but are nothing to worry about for the honest driver, but be prepared to turn down music, remove your sunglasses, and roll down your window. Being courteous to the soldiers will make it a quick and painless experience. Mexican Cuisine The cuisine varies depending on what part of the country you are in. The Northern parts of the country make a lot of meat dishes, mostly from beef and goat. Some of the best dishes involve Carne Asada or Cabrito. The central parts of Mexico are well known for their corn based dishes, and incorporate a lot of the local flavors into their Pozole, Carnitas, and Menudo. The Coastal regions have a lot of seafood and fish that combine well with other corn-based recipes that are found all over Mexico. Spicy vegetables and chicken dishes are a staple of the Southeastern region where the food has a lot of Caribbean influences. Mexico is a place to visit on multiple occasions, because each region and hot spot is different from the last and if your holiday isn’t long enough to visit all of them, then a return visit is simply a must. The food and the people will make you feel like you are in a paradise where everything moves a little slower and things are taken at a nice relaxed pace.
