Holiday Destinations in North and Central America
North and Central America offer options for the more adventurous traveler and those light of heart. The continent spans the equator to the Great White North, and everything in between. CanadaCanada easily has the most vast expanses of unspoiled wilderness in North America, but it also features some of the world's most modern, cosmopolitan cities, like Quebec, Toronto, and Vancouver. Breath taking Niagra Falls is also a major must see. Great places to visit include: Banff National Park; Canada's first national park, with 6,641 sqkm it weighs in as the world's largest national park, millions visit every year. Yoho National Park on the western side of the continent is renowned for ice climbing, drawing people worldwide to climb the Canadian Rockies icy mountains.Yoho Park is also popular amongst cross country skiing enthusiasts for it's groomed trails and plentiful kilometers of backcountry skiing. Central AmericaCentral America's seven nations connect North and South America, and is a blend of elements from both continents. Iberian culture and cuisine, cosmopolitan metropolises and ancient ruins dating back before Stonehenge, Central America offers something for any taste. The Arenal Volcano in Fortuna Costa Rica has been erupting every year since 1968. The Belize Great Barrier Reef is the second largest barrier reef after the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, and is teeming with wildlife. GreenlandGreenland is an enormous island, with stark white landscapes, glaciers, and in the summer the sun never sets. When visiting Greenland, visit The Summit; it's the most highest point on Greenland's the ice cap, very barren but a target for scientists collecting ice samples for research. MexicoMexico has long been an attraction for travelers, and has an ancient history stretching back thousands of years. With it's beautiful beaches, vast climes, great food and friendly people, Mexico is great for holiday. The Chichen Itza is great for day trips, and at night you can catch a light show with the same ticket that granted you admission during the day. Camping is available around the Chichen Itza, just ask a friendly tour guide. Teotihuacan, or The City of the Gods, is a pyramid complex 40 km northeast of Mexico City, or about 40 minutes by car and 1 hour by bus. USAThe United States of America is often touted as the leader of the world, but it bears some of the world's most visited cities, with vast tracts of nature preserves, mountains, deserts, forests, that's ripe for exploration. The Grand Canyon in Arizona is stunning in it's beauty, and Yellowstone National Park has "Old Faithful"; a prehistoric supervolcano that releases steam every day.
