Peru Holidays 2012
Perhaps, to British people at least, Peru's most famous son is a certain brown bear named Paddington (well can you name any other famous Peruvians?). However, that doesn't mean Peru isn't an interesting and fascinating place to visit. Peru is a wonderful nation to spend your holiday. Situated on the western coast of South America, Peru is filled with some of the nicest and most patriotic people you will ever encounter. While the people of Peru may tend to blame industrial nations for their economic turmoil, they do not extend that distaste to the citizens from those nations. You will find yourself welcomed when you arrive in this country. Taking the time to see all the amazing wildlife that is all over and the beautiful mountains will allow you to reconnect with nature and truly feel part of it. The public transport of Peru is fairly extensive and getting around by the various bus and taxi services on offer make it an easy country to navigate. Of course, a taxi in Peru could mean anything from a car to a motor rickshaw, but that’s all part of the charm. If you do decide to travel by train, you would be advised to buy a first class or similar higher class ticket; otherwise you may end up with the luggage! Locals generally carry a lot of luggage and it ends up being put under every seat, in front of your feet and anywhere else they can squeeze it in. The climate of Peru varies depending on what part of the country you are in, but is generally tolerable and not too extreme. The two major attractions that cover all of Peru are the wildlife and the folklore. You will encounter animals you’ve never heard of as you travel through the country. There are jaguars, pink dolphins, primates, and giant river otters to name a few of the things you will be able to see as you navigate the country. Folklore is an important part of Peruvian culture as well. Festivals, music, and dance can be found everywhere you go and will differ depending on what region you are in. You will almost feel like you’ve entered another country as you travel from some regions to others. Visiting Peru can be exciting and exhilarating. You will see things you’ve only seen in photographs and experience a country full of people who are happy and enjoy what life has given them. The only major thing to avoid in Peru is the touts. They hang around bus terminals, airports, and train stations; these people will offer to take you to their hotel or carry your bags or drive you places. They are also more than willing to lie in order to get you to change plans to where they want to take you, so be careful and enjoy the beauty that is Peru.
