Singapore Holidays 2012
When visiting Singapore, make a point of visiting Chinatown. Here you will get a true sense of the true spirit of this vibrant city. If you fancy something a bit more laid back, Lazarus and Sisters Islands are a great way to get away from the busy city life. You should also try and make sure that you take a walk down Campbell Lane you will feel like you have stepped into a litle part of India. Places of Interest Chinatown Singapore offers you a look inside the Chinese culture of the island. While in Chinatown you will want to visit the Chinatown Heritage Center to get an inside glimpse of the history. You will also want to visit Chinatown Food Street and Chinatown Night Market. While cows used to be slaughtered here that is no longer practiced. Instead, you will find a variety of little shops selling a wide range of items, including fresh flowers and hand carved furniture. Jyothy Flower Shop makes some of the most beautiful garlands you have ever seen, so stop in and buy one to adorn your hair. Local Cuisine Here in Singapore you are going to find a variety of different cuisines, including Chinese, Malay, European, and Indian. While traveling around Singapore you will notice how many different eating establishments there are, which goes to show you how important eating is in Singapore. Even better is that food in Singapore is inexpensive, so it won’t be hard on your budget. Hawker stalls and coffee shops provide some of the best places to eat in Singapore. Local dishes that you need to try are the Malayan dishes that are steamed in banana leaves and include rice and dried fish. Being an island seafood is a popular choice for dishes, so be sure to try out the chilli Crabs. Climate Being located so close to the equator, Singapore has what is considered a typical tropical climate. With temperatures that rarely change and high levels of humidity it can get unbearably hot during your stay. The biggest problem is the unpredictable rainfall. When leaving for a day trip always pack a lightweight hooded jacket or even an umbrella. May and June are the hottest months of the year, while November and December are the wettest. When to visit When trying to decide when to visit Singapore the weather isn’t going to be a very big factor because it remains the same almost year round, hot, humid and you never know when it is going to rain. Instead when visiting Singapore you want to plan your vacation around the festivals and special events. January is a great time to visit because of the Chinese New Year festival. Good Friday and Labor Day are also an ideal time to visit Singapore.
